Dean Regas, Outreach Astronomer at the Cincinnati Observatory, talks with 91.7WVXU's Ann Thompson about the International Year of Astronomy. Celebrating the 400 years since Galileo first looked through a telescope, 135 countries will be promoting astronomy in 2009 with thousands of events. Cincinnati Observatory Center will be participating in an international webcast, holding classes on how to use a telescope, and hosting some sidewalk astronomy experiences as well as making free telescopes available for schools.
